Healthcare
A certified health officer is on site at all times during camp and a designated camp doctor is nearby in case of emergency. If a camper becomes injured or sick, the health officer will do the initial assessment and determine the best course of action. If a situation warrants a camper visiting a doctor, hospital or returning home, the health officer will communicate with the parent/guardian of the child directly to determine the next steps. Ultimately the decision will ALWAYS be up to the parent of the child.
Insurance
Campers are covered by a secondary accident/illness insurance policy. In the event of an accident, the camper’s personal insurance company will be billed for any medical-related expenses with Camp Selah’s insurance covering any remaining balance.

Food Allergies & Intolerances
Camp Selah Food Service Staff will provide a gluten free/dairy free option at every meal for those with gluten and dairy allergies/intolerances. We must stress that this is reserved for campers/staff with legitimate allergies and intolerances, not for those who merely have particular food preferences.

Parents of campers with moderate to severe food allergies MUST fully complete and submit the registration form at least 10 days prior to the camp date so that the Food Service Department can make the appropriate preparations.
Discipline Policy
We seek to provide a safe and loving environment for each camper. To make sure of this, we adhere to a set camper discipline policy: 1st offense, verbal warning; 2nd offense, phone call to parents; 3rd offense, dismissal. We also strictly enforce a no-prank-policy.
Campers will be placed in a cabin based on age with a counselor responsible for them during their stay. HSOE will be conducted under the same rules and regulations as a licensed summer camp in the State of Michigan. All staff members undergo two separate background checks for criminal history and Central Registry (abuse & neglect), are hired based on their commitment to Jesus Christ and their love for the ministry of Camp Selah.
